Annual Sanibel Area Events:
February – Edison Festival of Lights: Annual festival honoring Thomas Alva Edison and seeking to improve education related to his work. Includes parades, crafts, 5K, car show, and much more.
March – Sanibel Island Sea Shell Festival: Celebrate the world-famous seashells of Sanibel Island during the Sanibel Island Sea Shell Festival.
April – Sanibel Music Festival: Hosted by Sanibel Congregational Church, this festival features music by emerging artists of piano, chamber music, and vocal ensembles.

September – Annual Island Hopper Songwriter Fest: Popular music festival on the beach featuring music from nationally acclaimed singers and songwriters.
October – "Ding" Darling Days: For one week each October, the refuge invites families to celebrate nature with fun festivities. Programs on wildlife preservation, guided beach walks, puppet shows, hot dogs, crafts, face painting, live animals and tons of environmental displays cater to families for an entire week
November – CROW's Taste of the Islands: A fun family friendly event with live music, kid's activities, silent auction and features specialties from more than 22 Sanibel and Captiva restaurants!
December – Sanibel Luminary Festival: This community-wide Holiday event features visits from Santa, a live nativity scene, and activities for the family
Recurring Weekly/Monthly Sanibel Area Events
Fort Myers Art Walk : Held from 6-10 pm on the third Friday of each month, this event is a self-guided walking tour of the local artists and galleries in the area.
Sanibel Farmers Market (Every Sunday from November to April): Since 2008, this local farmers’ market has provided locals and visitors alike a place to purchase local produce, bread, honey, seafood, meats, flowers, and cheeses.
